Nantucket Life and Inspiration

behind the lens

**Lauren is a paradox** a polished professional dedicated to her Nantucket community and a creative, introspective artist at heart. Beneath her calm exterior lies a love of adventure, beauty, and storytelling through imagery.

Inspired by interior designers who transform spaces in unexpected ways, she gravitates toward a clean, simple, and collected aesthetic grounded in warm minimalism. She loves to mix art and textiles, draw inspiration from travel (if only getting on and off island were easier!), and finds kinship with artists like Kate Holstein—who she says “embodies wanderlust”—alongside Donald Jurney, Sally King Benedict, and Pablo Picasso, admired for both his art and his shared passion for dachshunds.

Lauren often chases Nantucket’s famous sunsets to the beach, where surfers wait for the “wave of the day” and photographers search for the perfect light.

After washing ashore from New York City over a decade ago, she’s embraced island life with the short commutes, tight-knit community, and volunteer work with the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. The ocean, weather, and light have become the tools of her trade—and she’s rarely without a flashlight, extra batteries, and a good story to tell.

I get my Vitamin D through my work.  Each photograph has a "road trip-hanging out of the truck-racing to catch the sunset-best wave of the day" story behind it.  I'm attracted to scenes that reinforce the beauty and integrity in simplicity.
